Tiffany Cosby interviews Michelle Sims, 2026 Law Society Council member, to find out how she likes to spend her time.
What would an ideal weekend for you look like?
A sleep in, bush walks with my dog, live music and having enough spare time to read a whole book.
What’s a skill you’d love to learn?
Well, there’s two, Rally driving/Autocross and the double bass. The driving because I had a taste of it a few years ago and it was even more fun than I anticipated. The double bass because I’ve always wanted to play an instrument and this is my favourite.
Which do you prefer: museums or art galleries, an infinity pool or a sandy beach, Bali or Berlin? Why?
Art galleries are just museums for art, so they are in some ways the same thing … but my preference is art galleries. You can learn so much about the history of a place through art, because it opens a door into the thoughts of people experiencing that place and time.
Finish this sentence: Sometimes I’m quite …
Obsessed with my dog. Actually, let’s remove ‘quite’. I’m obsessed with my dog (Milo).
Name one thing on your bucket list
Getting my motorbike license.
What is your daily non-negotiable?
Transition time between work and home to wind down and refocus. Sometimes it is loud music in the car and a hot shower, other days it’s a walk with Milo.
Where is a place you’ve always wanted to travel to?
Africa. I really want to see a pangolin.
Describe your personal ‘brand’ in four words
Loyal, honest, person focused.
What food will always remind you of your childhood and why?
Pavlova. It was my Granny’s favourite, and she always insisted it was healthy because “it is made with eggs”. Making pavlova for my family invokes feelings of being around my Nan and the unconditional love she showed us.
If you had a spare 10 minutes right now, how would you use it?
Connect with my family and remind them how much I appreciate them.
