Tiffany Cosby interviews Stefania McGrath, 2026 Law Society Council member, to find out how she likes to spend her time.
What would an ideal weekend for you look like?
An ideal weekend has very little structure. A morning swim at the beach, time outdoors, a long walk, movement of some kind, and time with my family. I value space to decompress after a full week of work, so quiet moments are just as important as connection.
What’s a skill you’d love to learn?
I’d love to be able to do a ten-second handstand. A full minute was the original plan, but it turns out gravity has other ideas.
Which do you prefer: museums or art galleries, an infinity pool or a sandy beach, Bali or Berlin? Why?
Art galleries, a sandy beach, and Berlin. I’m drawn to experiences that engage the senses and invite reflection. A sandy beach offers so much to take in – the texture of the sand, hot feet running toward the water to cool them, the sun and breeze on your skin, and the strength of the ocean. Berlin has that same depth and complexity, while art galleries offer space to pause, notice, and think rather than simply observe.
Finish this sentence: Sometimes I’m quite …
Thoughtful – and then think a bit more.
Name one thing on your bucket list
To spend an extended period living somewhere completely unfamiliar, without an agenda, and see how that reshapes my perspective.
What is your daily non-negotiable?
Movement – some form of physical activity helps me stay regulated, clear-headed, present and because I am better company afterwards.
Where is a place you’ve always wanted to travel to?
Iceland – for the landscape, the sense of scale, and the reminder that nature operates on timelines far bigger than our own.
Describe your personal ‘brand’ in four words
Fast, focused, frank and fair.
What food will always remind you of your childhood and why?
Homemade pierogi – they represent comfort, family, care and remind me of my Polish heritage.
If you had a spare 10 minutes right now, how would you use it?
Realising I have a spare ten minutes and making a swift exit to enjoy the moment.
