The Cook Government is inviting homeowners and the building industry to be part of the review of Western Australia’s home building contract laws.
Builders and owners with recent experience in building or renovating their home are encouraged to participate in a survey to share their valuable insights and have a say on any improvements to the legislation.
The review aims to ensure the State’s laws remain fit for purpose and Western Australians building or renovating their homes are adequately protected. Here are the terms of reference.
Separate surveys for homeowners and builders are open until 12 September 2025 and can be found here.
“When building or renovating a home, Western Australians should have effective protections and enter contracts with confidence,” said Attorney General Tony Buti in a statement.
“I urge homeowners to be part of this important review by completing the survey. Your feedback and experiences are vital when considering improvements or reforms to home building contract legislation.”
Survey responses will help inform proposals in a Green Paper to be released later for public comment. Dan Caddy MLC has been appointed to coordinate and assist the review process.
