If Christopher Taylor-Burch had a spare 10 minutes

September 16, 2025

Tiffany Cosby interviews Christopher Taylor-Burch to find out how he likes to spend his time.

What would an ideal weekend for you look like?

A catch-up with friends, Pilates (the relaxing version) and breakfast with my wife, Kassy, a walk with our dog, and at least half a day doing as little as possible around the house.

What’s a skill you’d love to learn?

Jazz piano — I feel like playing classical piano with great expression, rather than accurately (anyone can play accurately) has prepared me.

Which do you prefer: museums or art galleries, an infinity pool or a sandy beach, Bali or Berlin?  Why?

Do you know I’ve never been to Bali? I apologise. But give me some impressionist paintings any day – they remind me of going along with mum as a kid when she was a guide at the Art Gallery of WA.

Finish this sentence: Sometimes I’m quite …

Excited by niche things that (strangely) interest very few normal people — like supernovae, the use of the subjunctive mood, and the exclusive cognisance of Parliament.

Name one thing on your bucket list

Fly to space (even if Olivia Rodrigo, quite reasonably, will never date me).

What is your daily non-negotiable?

A visit to Mary St Bakery — the 20 minutes after the strongest coffee they can legally sell me are the most productive of the day.

Where is a place you’ve always wanted to travel to?

Reykjavik (and the rest of Iceland). I also recently annoyed my wife by spelling it right (Reykjavik, not Iceland) while watching Guy Montgomery’s Guy Mont Spelling Bee, so now’s the time to rub that in.

Describe your personal ‘brand’ in four words

Good to work with.

What food will always remind you of your childhood and why?

Comically large choc-chip biscuits — who decided school canteens needed biscuits that big?

If you had a spare 10 minutes right now, how would you use it?

I’d go for a walk along the river (but in a coat — could this Winter have been any colder, Perth?).
