With just 10 days remaining to submit nominations, the Law Society of WA is calling on members of the profession to get involved in the 2025 Lawyer of the Year Awards.
The awards recognise outstanding contributions across six refreshed categories: Emerging Lawyer, Legal Innovation, Regional Practitioner, In-House Counsel, Government Lawyer, and Lawyer of the Year. Nominations are open to both Law Society members and non-members and close on Monday, 18 August 2025.
The program is designed to showcase the breadth and diversity of excellence across Western Australia’s legal profession, and to honour those making a significant impact in their practice and in the wider legal community.
“Whether you’re a junior lawyer introducing new ideas or a senior practitioner guiding peers and clients through complex legal challenges, these awards offer an opportunity to recognise and celebrate that work,” said Law Society CEO Kate Wellington.
In addition to celebrating excellence, the awards culminate in one of the most anticipated events on the legal calendar – the Gala Awards Evening, to be held at Optus Stadium on Friday, 7 November 2025.
Far from a typical awards ceremony, the evening promises a fun night of celebration with premium food and beverages, live entertainment, and a chance to show off your dance floor acumen. It’s a rare chance for legal professionals across sectors and generations to come together and celebrate the profession at its best.
Past winners have described the awards as both humbling and energising, often noting how the recognition has helped validate their work and deepen their connection to the legal community.
Nominations are encouraged from all corners of the legal profession, and self-nominations are welcome.
